Construction Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP'S)

Construction Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP’s) are prepared to control runoff and pollutants from a site during and after construction activities. Before commencing construction activity, the owner or operator of a construction project that will involve soil disturbance of one or more acres must obtain coverage under the State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) General Permit for Stormwater Discharges from Construction Activity (GP-0-10-001).

Typical components of a construction SWPPP include:

  • General Permit (GP-0-10-001)
  • Notice of Intent (NOI) and Acknowledgement From the NYSDEC
  • MS4 Acknowledgment Letter (If Site is Located in an MS4)
  • Erosion and Sedimentation Control
  • SWPPP Inspections
  • Post-Construction Stormwater Management
  • Notice of Termination (NOT)
